Certain and Uncertain Promises.

People complain that we live in uncertain times, but what exactly is so bad about that? Is certainty all that it’s cracked up to be? How real is certainty anyway? And are there possibilities hidden in the uncertain?

Seth Tichenor is a teacher, scholar, public lecturer, and evangelist for the transformative power of philosophical discourse, traditions, and reflection. He has been giving philosophy talks, teaching open philosophy classes, and leading philosophy discussion groups, all for the general public, for over 30 years. He has also taught at Linfield College, Oregon State University, the University Of Hawaii, and Concordia University, as well as Clatsop Community College.

Seth believes that philosophy, in its many dimensions, is an integral part of human experience, both personally and communally, and something everyone can benefit from encountering. Consequently, he and his wife, Gad Perez-Tichenor established “Philosofarian” in 2011 – a nonprofit public philosophy project that brings philosophical inquiry, reflection, classes, and discourse to everyone in their community at no cost. It aims to build long-term communities of philosophical inquiry within the larger public; a vision encompassed in Philosofarian’s motto – “Talk, Think, Belong”. You can learn more about it by checking out its website, philosofarian.org.

Seth lives in Warrenton Oregon with Gad & their two nephews (Dutch & SJ) whom they are raising.
