Samhain ritual. The PUUF service for Sunday, October 25, will be led by the Coven of the Lower Columbia Pagans (CLCP), our local CUUPS chapter, as a ritual to commemorate Samhain, or as it is also known, the Feast of All Hallows, or the Day of the Dead. This is a ritual that serves two purposes – it is the closing of the Harvest season and preparation for the dark days of winter, and it is a festival of remembrance of ancestors and the dearly departed. During the service we will have an altar where we invite you to place photos and mementos of departed loved ones, but also feel free to place seasonal produce appropriate to this final harvest (such as root vegetables, gourds, apples, etc.). The focus of our ritual will be commemoration of the loved ones and ancestors that are no longer with us.
This ritual will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the First Presbyterian Church of Astoria. The service will also be live-streamed via Zoom for those who are not comfortable attending in person. Masks are now optional. If you are not feeling well, please wear a mask, or attend via Zoom.
