Dia de Los Muertos

During Dia de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, the veil between the living and the dead is believed to thin, allowing souls to briefly return to the world of the living to be with their families. This is a spiritual connection that celebrates life and death as a continuous cycle, rather than focusing solely on loss. This sweet celebration honors loved ones by celebrating their lives and memories, so that they are never truly gone. Adriana will discuss how we, the living, honor the dead through traditions like creating ofrendas with our deceased loved one’s  favorite foods and items, and visiting gravesites to offer prayers and gifts.

We are meeting in person at the First Presbyterian Church of Astoria. The service will also be live-streamed via Zoom for those who are not comfortable attending in person.  Masks are now optional but strongly advised. If you are not feeling well, please wear a mask, or attend via Zoom.

Child care is available.

Join us for Coffee Hour after the service in Fellowship Hall!
