SUMMARY:The Unexpected Gifts From Tragedy
DESCRIPTION:Bunny Keterman\n\nNovember 8\, 2023 marks the five-year anniversary of the California Paradise Camp Fire.  The fire destroyed Paradise and surrounding towns and is the fifth deadliest wildfire in US history\, the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California history\, the one of the most-costly natural disasters in US history\, and is the largest insurance payout in the world.  Eighty-five people lost their lives\, more than 153\,000 acres burned\, and more than 18\,000 structures were burned.  This tragic catastrophe is a defining moment for UU congregant Bunny Keterman.  Bunny will talk about her experience with a focus on recovery and the blessings that can come from tragedy.\n\n~Open hearts\, open minds\, room for all theologies\, including yours~\n  \nWe are meeting in person at the First Presbyterian Church of Astoria. DESCRIPTION:Jennifer Goodenberger \n9/11 Acknowledgement/Remembrance \nPianist and composer Jennifer Goodenberger will explore the history and transformative elements of music and sound\, alternating between discussing music as a healing power\, and performing music which illustrates the concepts. She believes that the arts are a universal source of health\, healing and (w)holiness. Since the 1980’s\, Jennifer has studied the effects of music on the body\, mind and spirit\, transmitting that knowledge into her compositions and musicianship. Her 9 CDs of solo piano music are often used in healing\, massage\, yoga\, birthing\, hospice\, and as ambient music for creativity and relaxation. \n  \n~Open hearts\, open minds\, room for all theologies\, including yours~\n  \nWe are meeting in person at the First Presbyterian Church of Astoria.
