SUMMARY:I Am a UU Mystic
DESCRIPTION:Unitarian Universalists draw widom and guidance from various sources. UU mystics often draw upon direct experience of transcendence and personal connections to the Divine. Jessica York\, retired former Director of Congregational Life at the UUA\, shares why she claims mysticism as a faith path in her video sermon. \n  \nJoin us for Coffee Hour after the service in Fellowship Hall!

SUMMARY:Samhain Ritual
DESCRIPTION:Samhain ritual. The PUUF service for Sunday\, October 25\, will be led by the Coven of the Lower Columbia Pagans (CLCP)\, our local CUUPS chapter\, as a ritual to commemorate Samhain\, or as it is also known\, the Feast of All Hallows\, or the Day of the Dead. This is a ritual that serves two purposes – it is the closing of the Harvest season and preparation for the dark days of winter\, and it is a festival of remembrance of ancestors and the dearly departed. During the service we will have an altar where we invite you to place photos and mementos of departed loved ones\, but also feel free to place seasonal produce appropriate to this final harvest (such as root vegetables\, gourds\, apples\, etc.). The focus of our ritual will be commemoration of the loved ones and ancestors that are no longer with us. \nThis ritual will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the First Presbyterian Church of Astoria. The service will also be live-streamed via Zoom for those who are not comfortable attending in person.  Masks are now optional. If you are not feeling well\, please wear a mask\, or attend via Zoom..  Masks are now optional. SUMMARY:Our Veterans
DESCRIPTION:By some estimates\, the United States has spent at most 20 years at peace in its 250 year existence. Knowing that armed conflict is likely during a tour of duty\, why does someone who holds UU values join the military? We recognize our veterans this upcoming Veterans Day and hear from our own PUUF vets. Would it better express our desire for peace if Veterans Day returned to its original designation: Armistice Day? A panel of our veterans – Laura Gordon\, Frank Erikson\, Duane Thompson\, and Steven Peterson reflect on their military experience. \n\n \nJoin us for Coffee Hour after the service in Fellowship Hall!
