SUMMARY:God in Our Own Image
DESCRIPTION:Meredith Richardson \n\n\nIn the words of Ani DiFranco\, “What if God’s not looking down? What if He’s looking up instead?”What if we are the ones who are creating the Divine\, or at least our interpretation of It? If all spiritual paths lead to the same end\, and we\, as Universalists\, don’t believe in Hell\, then we get to choose what we do believe. And what we choose to believe says as much about us as what we choose not to. \nMeredith will talk about her own spiritual berry picking when it comes to connecting with the Divine\, while also weaving in some UU-friendly song lyrics. \n  \n\n~Open hearts\, open minds\, room for all theologies\, including yours~\n  \nWe are meeting in person at the First Presbyterian Church of Astoria. SUMMARY:An Evolving Faith
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Carol McKinley \n\n\n\n\n\n\nNearly 2\,500 years ago\, the Greek philosopher Heraclitus is believed to have said\, “The only constant in life is change.” No one today can deny the truth of that statement\, although many try! After all\, there is great comfort in having everything remain the same. But change is inevitable\, and it opens doors to a more expansive view of the world and our place in it. Unitarian Universalism continues to open doors as it lives into being a faith that that believes that this tradition\, like life\, continues to evolve. \n  \n~Open hearts\, open minds\, room for all theologies\, including yours~\n  \nWe are meeting in person at the First Presbyterian Church of Astoria. SUMMARY:Universalism: Past\, Present and Powerful
DESCRIPTION:Rev. Kalen Fristad \nRev. Fristad will speak on the long rich history of Universalism. He will be relating that the teaching of eternal damnation is not merely a harmless untruth that we might appropriately ignore and allow to stand\, but that it has serious consequences. It leads to the possibility\, perhaps even the inevitability\, of wars\, bigotry\, oppression and abuse. On the other hand\, the teaching of Universalism leads to equality\, respect\, love and dignity for all. Rev. Fristad is a United Methodist minister and is a member of the Unitarian Universalist Christian Fellowship.  \n  \n~Open hearts\, open minds\, room for all theologies\, including yours~\n  \nWe are meeting in person at the First Presbyterian Church of Astoria.
