SUMMARY:Bread and Roses
DESCRIPTION:In this month’s theme of Balance\, we explore the necessity of variety and change in our lives. From the millworkers a century ago\, to today’s jeopardized federal workers and targeted groups\, we all strive for dignity\, purpose\, and joy. “Hearts starve as well as bodies; give us bread\, but give us roses too.” Rev. Mira Kepler is our featured speaker this week. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are meeting in person at the First Presbyterian Church of Astoria. The service will also be live-streamed via Zoom for those who are not comfortable attending in person.  Masks are now optional but strongly advised. If you are not feeling well\, please wear a mask\, or attend via Zoom. \n \nJoin us for Coffee Hour after the service in Fellowship Hall!

SUMMARY:Equilibrium In Turbulent Times
DESCRIPTION:Flying to a family reunion or vacation\, we’ve no doubt heard the pilot announce\, “We expect some turbulence ahead. Please remain in your seats with your seatbelt fastened.” Today\, we may not be on a plane\, but we are certainly experiencing stormy weather. How do we maintain balance in the midst of uncertainty? \nThe Reverend Carol McKinley now retired\, is the affiliated community minister with the Olympia UU Congregation\, where she headed its Faith in Action program. For nine years she served as coordinator for Washington UU Voices for Justice\, the legislative advocacy organization. \n\nWe are meeting in person at the First Presbyterian Church of Astoria. The service will also be live-streamed via Zoom for those who are not comfortable attending in person.  Masks are now optional but strongly advised.
