Celebrating Hispanic Culture & Assisting Hispanic Detainees

Peninsula residents and visitors are invited to attend a free, family-friendly program celebrating Hispanic culture and assisting peninsula Hispanic families who have experienced detention/deportation by federal agents.

The DoGoodnics production takes place on Friday, October 20, 7-9 p.m. at the Chautauqua Lodge, 304 14th Street NW, Long Beach.

The program will feature speakers Fernando Rodrigues, President, Lower Columbia Hispanic Council, Erin Glenn, Spanish teacher at Ocean Beach School District, Ann Reeves, ACLU People Power community group coordinator, and Sydney Stevens, Oysterville writer/historian who has written a series, “Stories from the heart,” recently published in the Chinook Observer.

Attendees are encouraged to wear Mexican colors, red, green, and white and to share comments, suggestions, and cash donations to assist some of the 30+ peninsula Hispanic detainees experiencing major financial problems.

Free refreshments and music will be provided. Pinatas will be auctioned.

Those unable to attend the October 20 program, but willing to offer financial assistance, can donate checks made out to “DoGoodnics” and mailed to 1605 229th Place, Ocean Park, WA 98640.
